North East

Comprising three distinct tourism areas, the Northeast contains some of the most accessible lodges as well as more remote areas. The area is broadly defined by the Kafue river to the West, the M9 road to the South and the Eastern Park boundary.  The most accessible part of the park is the Mayukweyukwe area (before the Hook Bridge and just North of the main M9 tar road).  Coming further East and North we have the  Musekese-Lumbeya area which is a lot further off the main tar road.  And then in the farther Northeast (reached through branching off the M9 at Mumbwa) we have tourist facilities in the Hippo area as well further North around the Lubungu and the Lunga/Kafue confluence.  Like most of the Kafue, tourism facilities are all located on permanent rivers – the Kafue and the Lunga.
