Kafue National Park

Kafue National Park is Zambia’s oldest and largest National Park at 22,480 km2 – about 35% of Zambia’s total National Park estate. The Park was created in 1950 and is incredibly rich in natural diversity – both flora and fauna, with approximately 158 mammal species and over 515 bird species identified. The Park is one of the few places in Zambia where cheetah can be seen, and other iconic species include Elephant, Eland, Roan, Sable, Buffalo, Wild Dog, Lion, Leopard and Hyena.  With 11 distinct major vegetation types, the diversity of experiences and environments is simply unmatched. The Kafue (as it is known) is one of the largest, most pristine and important wilderness areas left in Africa.

In order to guide visitors to the Kafue National Park, the Park is divided into four tourism areas to enable visitors to plan their trips.  These areas are: The Northwest, The Northeast, Central and Southern.
